Like a pro, he backed up all the talk and successfully made the cut down to lbs, even being the first fighter to the scale Friday morning.
Since that fight, Dillashaw has bested Raphael Assuncao and John Lineker, both via unanimous decision, and most recently knocking out Cody Garbrandt in two consecutive fights, ending all debate on who the king is today.
His journey down to brings yet another fighter looking to become a two division champ, after seeing Nunes squash Cyborg weeks ago.
Looking at what Dillashaw has done as of late, in comparison to Cejudo edging out former P4P champ Demetrious Johnson last August, everything points to Dillashaw cruising to victory Saturday night.
But before we get caught speeding, lets consider a few things. The weight cut. Do we know just how much it will negatively impact TJ Saturday night?
Has Henry Cejudo really improved that quickly, after dropping two in a row back in ? Eight months following, Cejudo lost via split decision to Joseph Benavidez, although a point deduction played a factor after Cejudo landed repeated low blows to JoeB.
Was that the best Mighty Mouse we saw that night? Not only that, his contract was set to expire and his head trainer coincidentally was VP of Operations over at ONE Championship all along.
Guess where Mighty Mouse ended up. Cejudo will be game Saturday night and it will be interesting to see if a similar gameplan works for him against Dillashaw, which I see as his only shot to retain.
He will look to leverage his wrestling base through landing inside trips as such, looking to control from the top on the mat. If Dillashaw can avoid the mat and looking up at the lights, this is his fight to lose.
I anticipate both fighters having their moments, and even though I dislike the guy, Dillashaw is my prediction to win Saturday night.
If you can fit Dillashaw, fit him. Couple of hammer fists land for Hardy but Crowder is looking for a triangle. Hardy avoids and gets side mount, but Crowder reverses and works to his feet to end the round.
Into the 2nd and both men are moving a lot slower now. Superman punch glances for Hardy. He throws some more but Crowder fires back with his own combo.
Crowd are way into Crowder now as he continues to taunt before shooting for a takedown. Big sprawl from Hardy…. Ridiculous stuff.
This was an experiment that backfired for the UFC big time, not much more to be said really. After a lot of questions around the weight cut Dillashaw managed to make it, but after seeing him look pretty gaunt at the weigh-in I was picking Cejudo in a mild upset, feeling the weight cut would cause TJ to gas out.
They trade a couple of early kicks and then a head kick misses for Cejudo. Jesus Christ. And six months on?
